The Big Caption

When I was brainstorming ideas on how to approach this assignment, I can admit I had no direction whatsoever. I first went through all of the images that were featured on ‘The Big Picture’, which proved to be no help as there were so many options. Rather than just choosing one image, I saved three images that kind of spoke to me as I was scrolling through.

The image I chose was from the Boston marathon in 2019. When I think of the Boston marathon, my mind is instantly drawn to the bombing in ’13. I was 14 at the time and I recall how terrified I felt watching the breaking news segment on live TV. That year we had a family friend participating so it was an added weight onto the emotions I had already been feeling for everyone there at that moment.

I actually started working on other memes before I came back to this one. I was unsure how to change the message at first, but the idea sparked when I was taken back to my childhood. I loved searching for things in books like “Where’s Waldo? (Wally if you’re in the UK) and other search and find books. I am not sure if it is something I would enjoy now honestly as my patience has grown thin over the years, but these books definitely provided some excitement in my childhood!
